The history of the Truffle and the discover of the city of Alba begins between the walls of the historical “Caffè Savona”, of which the Residence is part. In 1927 the enterprising Giacomo Morra starts to take interest in truffles and, eager to get Alba’s White Truffle known over the world, “exports” it paying homage to renowned and world-famous personalities (Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, J.F. Kennedy and many more).
In 1928 he organizes the 1st International Fair of the White Truffle of Alba and since then, every year in October, the event takes unfailingly place again all around the city. It is since this moment, that the “Caffè Savona dei Morra” started to represent the place where everything ha begun; for more than twenty years it is runned by the Randazzo family, that, by restructuring it, has maintained the same features of those times still managing, however, to keep pace with the present.
